Discover Laser Vision Correction
If you wear glasses or contact lenses, you may have imagined what life would be like without them. Laser eye surgery can help reduce your dependence on vision correction.
While many people achieve 20/20 vision after laser vision correction, some may still need glasses or contact lenses after surgery. However, surgery almost always decreases reliance on corrective lenses.
We can help you decide whether laser eye surgery is right for you. We’ll perform a thorough evaluation to make sure you’re a good candidate for surgery, and walk you through what to expect from the procedure, healing process, and results.

Who Can Benefit from Laser Eye Surgery?
To be considered a candidate for laser eye surgery, you must be at least 18 years old with a stable prescription that isn’t too great, and your eyes must be in good health. Infections, severe dry eye, or recent trauma to your eye(s) may delay the procedure.

Types of Laser Eye Surgery
While there are a few variations of laser eye surgery, they all involve a laser being used to carefully reshape your cornea, the clear front part of your eye, to correct refractive errors and give you clear vision. The most common types in Canada include LASIK and PRK.
The type of laser eye surgery you receive will depend on the health of your eyes. During your consultation, we will discuss the different options and recommend the type of laser eye surgery that is suited to your anatomy and eye health.
Laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) involves a surgeon making a small flap in your cornea. This flap is folded back, and the layers beneath are reshaped with a computer-guided laser.
After the surgery, the flap is placed back over your eye and heals in place. The healing process is faster than for PRK surgery.
Photorefractive keractectomy (PRK) involves a surgeon removing the outer layer of the cornea, called the epithelium. After this layer is removed, the surgeon uses a computer-guided laser to reshape the cornea to correct vision.
After the surgery, a bandage contact lens is placed over the eye to protect it and promote healing. The initial healing process takes about one week.
Is Laser Eye Surgery Right for Me?
During your consultation, we will examine the health of your eyes and assess whether you are a good candidate for laser eye surgery. We’ll discuss your expectations for the surgery and explain the procedure and recovery process. We will also make sure to explain the potential risks so you can make a fully informed decision.
During our discussion, we will answer any questions you may have about laser eye surgery. At the end of the consultation, we will provide a referral to a local laser eye surgeon.
